Kaleb with his new hat!
While I was with my husband making some new hats to sell to go towards our infertility and adoption my nephew Kaleb was visiting. He saw me crocheting and asked me what I was doing. When I explained to him that I was making baby hats he asked if I would make him one. I think he looks like a champ in this hat. He even picked his colors!

We are having fun making the hats. Now we need some traction to get the word out to everyone they are for sale for a good cause. Here is a picture of one of the little girl hat's I just did....

Please help us spread the news! Thank you!

When Tad and I purchased our home our yard was dead, we attempted to save it we put down seed and fertilizer and worked very hard on giving it the needed love. It failed. So we started dreaming a little bigger. We had a little pool we put on our patch and then thought, why don't we landscape around it?  A year later and lots of planning and bargains we got there...

THEN this happened!

 Happy BETTER back yard!

It’s been a long while since I have posted anything because life sure does have a way of being completely busy. I figure it is better to live my life then narrate some of what happened rather than write my life and fail to live it to its fullest. I don’t think of it as an excuse but a reason so you’ll have to bear with me. First I have to say how incredible it is to have the knowledge that family adds safety, security and hope; it is so essential. We have been abundantly blessed to have a family built on love respect and of course fun.

Recently Tad and I have been working with our newest Fertility Endocrinologist and finding that I have PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) among other fertility issues to work through. Learning we have an 8% chance of having our own children if we do treatments to support my system was surprisingly not a motivation for me to want to go through the adoption process because I had already made the decision to open my heart and mind to the Lord about adoption.
About a year ago I was thinking about adoption. And believe me there is a whole lot to think about! It has been a process that I now think is so special, and has changed me forever. I had an inspired realization that we are ALL GOD’s children first and that those children come to us by the Lord's design whether we have them or whether they are placed into our family through adoption. We are sent to this earth to gain a family, to have experiences and to learn lessons that will hopefully enable us to return to his presence. We are excited to announce we are starting the paperwork needed to make adoption possible. We are SO amazed to see the blessings that come to us that reaffirm this is what we are meant to do. Getting ready for that spirit to be in our home has been a wild ride that has refined us.
In the hope we will be better prepared for our little one to be smothered in LOVE we have to get them here first! To do that I am lunching
Project... Booties for Baby meets Beanies for Baby!
And it is all coming together... with your help!

Here are a few simple examples of what we have to look forward to! (KEEP IN MIND that the booties are from last year in November so you will want to look at that post for details! But here are a few of the beanies I've started that are available now!

It is quickly becoming that time of year when the cold begins to nip at your toes. When you look around to see the falling leaves the pumpkins for carving and the cider and hot chocolate beginning to brew. Yes! It means it is the time of year for orders for...
Booties for Baby
If you are not familiar with booties for baby, let me give you the condensed version. My husband and I are in the process of earning and saving funds so that we can start our family. We are continuously trying to find ways to be self sufficient in providing the funds we need to do this, however infertility and adoption are not so nice on the wallet per say. In the end we have found that it is completely necessary to have fundraisers and other means to get the funds to help our dream of having a family come true!

I hand crochet little slippers that we call booties and use all the funds earned to go toward supporting our tests and adoption costs. THANK you for your love and support, we can't do it without the love and compassion of others.

Approximate Costs for the booties are below and are subject to change.
Newborn begin at$7.00 +
Infant begin at $15.00 +
Toddler begin at $18.00 +
Teens begin at $20.00 +
Adults begin at $25+

Sharing a Testimony through Art

When I was in seminary I wrote a quote in my scriptures that I often reflect back on and ponder why the meaning of the quote changes depending on my current circumstance. I suppose it is the same reason the scriptures do the same thing. Truth doesn't change, however our understanding and personal application does.
The quote is this: "When we say we are nothing, when we doubt ourselves and when we say we cannot do things we are in a way proclaiming that God is nothing, that we do not believe his Grace is enough to save us, to purify us and to help us do all things. Therefore doubt not your potential and doubt not God."

There is a power that comes from understanding truth, and to truly understand something we have to have applied and see that it works. I am still learning to comprehend what all the Father has in store for me. Last night I went with our youth to the Church History Museum where they have the Art Gallery on display. This year is special since all the artwork on display was done by youth of the Church from around the world. My heart was touched by the amazing perception the noble youth of this generation exudes through their talents. Next to the art was the artist’s depiction of what they were trying to cast to canvas. Their knowledge was sure, there testimony pure and their vision unique. It brought me to reflect on a many great things… I am thankful for the gospel and for the talents our Father gives his children.

Where are your devotions?

Touched, thankful, amazed... I think all of those words describe my experience as I felt the spirit encompass my soul as I walked through this wonderful display.

What a rush, we are SO close to having the fence on the side finished. At about 9:30 last night Tad and I put in the last screw for the gate. Now all we need to do is put the wheels on the bottom, and the slats on the front and we’ve done it!

Once we had the posts in and cemented we left them for a day to settle then hung the stringers. Then a day or two later we put up the first half of the slats, then spent all night last night finishing the center section. We were hoping to get more done so we put together the gate in the dark using flashlights and the lights of the saw and drill. I was in charge of measuring and cutting all the wood so tad could level and hang it. We made a great team!

Eventually we will have the pool up! And the flower bed around it cultivated rather than just a pile of dirt. But isn't it beautiful? I'm getting excited!
It was such a gratifying experience to stretch out my back, wipe the sawdust from my face and look at the fence we had built. Slivers, cuts and scrapes... accompanied by some blood and plenty of sweat... the perfect ingredients for a beautiful cedar fence. One down and an entire front to go... hmmmm. Where I'm standing to take this picture is where the gate will go.

Our neighbor Don was out to supervise the fence building haha. He is a pretty cute old man and a hard worker for a man of his "experience". He kept saying how thankful he was that Tad is a "master engineer" because Tad designed the fence and worked up all of the figures and measurements beforehand. So Don just kept asking questions like: how is this supposed to work, should I go get a drill and start putting in screws, or how many slats should I put here? Tad is very patient and kind. He even dealt with a few of my less than perfect cutting jobs with the circular saw.

THE WEEKEND ENDEAVORS:
A DATE at the DUMP and not feeling well.
Last Friday I developed an incredibly annoying headache while I was at work, I kept trying to push it off and move on because it was date night! And I love date night. I came home threw my hair in a messy bun and asked Tad what he wanted to do first. He explained he had changed his mind and wanted to load the old fence onto the trailer and take it to the dump. I can laugh about it now, but then it was not so funny. A DATE AT THE DUMP, every woman’s dream! And so we loaded the old fence, took it to the dump then realized the Green work truck was still being used so we filled our time by getting gravel since we still had the trailer from my parents. At this point in our date, we are filthy, hot and smell …… like the dump. J I’m starving because work was busy and I had not eaten lunch. My plan was to come home and eat… then the dump was going to close, then the stone place was going to close… later and later into the day it went.
FINALLY we had done what had to be done, my head felt like it was going to split my stomach was not feeling well at all…. So we went to dinner. I was stubborn and determined to get some part of my date right and take my sweetheart to dinner. We get to Chili’s order and by the time the food comes I’m scoping out a bathroom. Then waited in the car while Tad had them put our uneaten food in boxes and then went home to bed. Boy am I thankful for a great husband who is compassionate and caring. He took great care of me.
